Since the Covid-19 corona virus has made its appearance globally, we have made many changes in our office, in order to better protect our patients and ourselves. Many of these new changes will stay with us long term, as they have proven to be effective for a number of different respiratory pathogens.
At the end of each work day, we ‘fog’ the office. This is done using a plug-in, hand-held machine called a fogger. We fabricate a mild solution of hypochlorous acid, which is then put into the fogger. The machine turns the solution into a fine mist which will catch any airborne pathogens, pull them to the floor using the gravity of the fluid, and kill them. Please don’t hesitate to ask us if you would like to see our fogging machine.
We have two high volume Jade SCA5000C air purifiers located in the operatories. They run all day long, circulating the air six times in an hour. Due to their very low noise emittance, you may have not even noticed that they are there. Please ask one of our dental team members to point them out next time you pay us a visit. These purifiers have the most advanced and effective medical grade air filtration systems available today. Each purifier has a multi-stage technology that captures dust particles, pollen, volatile organic chemicals, mold, allergens, viruses, odours (like formaldehyde and smoke), bioaerosols, and many other pollutants that are found in the inside air of a dental office. Considering that the common cold, influenza and covid-19 will likely always be with us, we consider these air purifiers an invaluable investment.
In addition to the acrylic barrier at our front reception area, our glove and mask protocols, and all the infection control procedures, we are confident that you will find our office a very safe place to visit. Please ask us questions if you have any queries about our infection control procedures. We would be happy to address any of your concerns.
